Heard Dan shoot while bringing in the Christmas tree tonight. Turns out he needed some help so I took my dragging team back to the woods. I couldn't get the boys to hold her head up but this was a big, old doe with a nose as long as a horse! MR

There were 802 dogs entered in this show & trials, in 115 different breeds and varieties. There were no Old English, Sheepdogs, 13 Newfies, 2 Clumbers, 5 Brittanys, 1 Pug, 7 Beagles, and none resembling Kip... We didn't stay long enough to see our tennis friend showing Kobie, an English Cocker Spaniel, I'll post an older shot of this sweet dog!

Crazy game! Drew and I sure picked a good one to go to. Too bad MSU's offense checked out in the 4th quarter to need the miracle catch. We were in the other endzone and could see the catch. Looked like an obvious TD. Didn't realize it was so close until I came home and saw the replay. Felt like we were going to get blown out when we went down 14-0 early.

We're connected, finally! Xfinity messed us up...Comcast didn't show up yesterday, but two trucks arrived today! Everything is green here, had 7 tall yard bags ready for pickup this morning. I was driving backroads between Irons and Walahala whem I saw her. I thought she was a goat at first. Then I saw her 2 fawns/yearlings and one of them was albino too. I pulled over and started taking pictures as they worked their way towards the road. I got out of the truck and sneeked back up the road behind a hill. At one time I had them within 15 yards. It was really cool. You could see the doe's pink eyes and nose. About 10 min after I left them, I had a sow and cub run across the road in front of me. They were moving and no time to do anything but watch in awe. I have a lot more of the albino pictures. But these were the best.

The middle trail is closed at the north trail. Sign says "foot travel only".The only way in is along 10 or the west trail. There are only a couple places big enough on the west trail to camp. They are small too. More like car parking. There is a nice big lot straight west of the turnaround on the west trail. It has stumps blocking it. Don't know if it was the DNR or some arsehole trying to keep the spot for himself. I am planning on taking the popup this Thursday and being first there to mark our camp site!

President Abraham Lincoln called for volunteers, got 1,032 from Michigan, they proceeded to the Battle of Mills Creek KY and supported General Grant at the Battle of Shiloh in TN.

Thanks Lew. I missed all the games this weekend. But Michigan was having a game of the week replay. I am watching it with 7 min to go when I read your post. Nothing like blowing the outcome for me! I have bad news for you too. No more camping on the hill in Wallaha. The middle trail is bulldozed closed along with the cross trail. The west trail is a super hiway. You can pass on it. Dan can still drive to his blind by comming in from the north trail. You could camp on the old parking spot where the middle and cross trails meet. Might have a few cars next to you. The best camping spot might be just off 10 on the middle trail. They left about 75 yards between 10 and the first burm. I sent Mick pictures.

It's a sad day at this Parks household. I lost my best friend. Never thought it would happen. At least not yet. But we had some good times over the years. If Dan gets home early afternoon tomorrow, were going to the rodeo tomorrow night. They plan to leave Illinois by 8:00/9:00 michigan time. Nice brookie right before dark on Saturday. Probably 10-12". Best brookie I've caught. Took an 18 Griffth's Gnat. A meaningfull fish to me: Nice Brook Trout, Mason Tract, on George Griffth's(founder of Trout Unlimited) fly. Only thing that I regret is that it wasn't on cane since I was there for the Hex and I didn't want to take a chance of a collision with a fine L.C. Parks and one of the hummingbird-sized flys that imitate the big bugs.

Aunt Carole and Cousins in Missouri had heavy rains (11" this month)but the closest tornado was at Grandon, 10 miles from them. She was glad to hear we were all doing OK. They are good, she is going to church camp in June and enjoy some time with friends. She says hello to everyone!

It's really funny that you would say that. We were having that exact conversation. We would put kip and yophie out front (where the crazy energetic dogs go) and use Skylar and Nell as the wheeldogs (aka the powerhouses). The sweet old lady at the kennel talked me into paying for a bath and she threw in some kind of "hot oil treatment". Polly found a frozen turd to roll on as soon as she got home to undo all of that. She wasn't to happy with the little scarf thing either. I think the kennel caters more to poodles than beagles.

Polly got her stiches out from being spayed Saturday morning. She worked her but off Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning chasing bunnies. That little girl is working all the time in the woods. No bunnies to show for it. Just a wore out beagle. They ran into holes on us before I could get a shot. At least she ran one by the woodcutter yesterday so I know she's chasing bunnies!

Found a sink-hole big enough to drive an SUV through, just outside our Piedmont gate, took a picture, then rode on home. Broken water main so we have to boil drinking water. Seems it was just a hole dug in the road to find the break. Will send my cell phone photo...have a good day!

What a blast that was. We waited in traffic for an hour before the game and in the parking garage for an hour after the game. I'll be ready to go again in another 36 years or so. I'm sure the Lions will still be under .500.
