Happy Birthday Darry! We got to Calhoun, Georgia at 7:30pm. Left Nan's at 6:40am, fog through Michigan. Nice weather all the way...70 degrees...Glad Kris missed the icy roads between Dayton and Bowling Green reported by travelers yesterday. Will post pictures soon. Poor Drew. He's been waiting for the Xmas parties at school for a month and then they have a snow day. Never seen a kid cry because of a snow day before. Mom is home with them now and she will be crying after a few hours for sure! I was lucky enough to be able to come to work. Not too many of my co-workers did however...

Thanks for the great Christmas photos! The kids are all getting so big! Collected about 18 bags of food from our tennis ladies for the Weirsdale Presbyterian Church food pantry. Ray & Marie are happy to deliver it to their church for us. Frank & I will bake our special KeeLeaves cookies tomorrow and bring them Christmas Eve. Have a good Friday!

The Villages Christmas Parade
About 10,000 watched the parade. Our MSU Club was at the tail end with our golf carts and walkers...enjoyed taking shots of the crowd and pups! About 3 miles around the polo field and back to the polo ponies field. Hope to attend a polo match next spring. Have a great week!

Had a long night last night. Left at 6:00 and drove to PA to pick up a snowblower for my garden tractor. 12 hours later I am home. At 3:00am it was 48 degrees in Cleaveland and at 6:00 it's 23 here at home. The roads were fun once I hit Mi.

Good Morning! Raced over to see water buffalo in my tennis friend's back yard...by the time we arrived the cow and baby calf were on the other side of the field. They busted through the fence into her yard earlier this year, now has a double fence. Have a good day!

Good Morning! Today is Aunt Geraldine's birthday. She is no longer living at home. She is feeling much better, gaining weight, but still on oxygen at night after the heart attack. You have to skin them according to Dan to do it right. I don't know what they bring but as long as they don't drop in value by 40% by the end of every day than the fur market will beat the hell out of the stock market. Not sure where to drop them off. Make sure to run around and claim every spot with any buck sign before we get there! Try not to stink up the woods too bad. It would be good hunter courtesy to stay down wind of the big pine unless you practice the same rigid scent elimination tactics I employ, i.e. Scent-Lok(Scent Blocker being an acceptable substitute), wiping down with scent eliminator products(only if a shower is not available), chewing scent eliminator gum, and, most importantly, no chili until supper time!

Happy Halloween. I added some costume pictures. We have a gypsy (notice the gypsy pose...I think it's part of the costume), Willy Wonka, and a pink poodle. They all think they are hot stuff! Also...had a VERY exciting night last night at swim. Gwen was the heat winner in the 25m freestyle. She also came in 2nd in her heat in the 50m freesytle. I'll post the official results when they come out. It really doesn't matter to Gwen though...she was happy to come home with a heat winner ribbon.

Good Morning! Saw a good game yesterday, and Zeke the wonder dog...didn't see Ash or Sam in the crowd. Two weeks left up here, hope to see some of you when we come down on Friday, Oct 17th. I keep score. We won 4-3. We have Drew as a set-up man and the coach's kid Max scored all the goals. Drew was whispering his plan to get Max the ball. We're usually playing short-handed because one kid pouts the whole game and won't join the pile. It is about 10 times more fun than T-ball(where I was bench coach). I won't tell him it's not really a sport until he's 6 or 7.

Lots of info,not much good. They started this about 10 years ago, took 3or4 to get permits, moves a bunch of turbins,cranes etc to the thumb,,and then shipped it to NY when Edison would not let them transmit as the lines were too light They are up and building again and expect to be generating in Dec. Also they did try to sell it this summer but no takers. I would rather invest in casinos, you know they make money just ask grandma

We had a nice time camping up in Caseville this weekend in the new pop-up. The boys had a great time with G-ma and G-pa Parks and Great Grandma Stiles. Well Drew lost his first tooth. It was starting to get loose and then he decided to speed up the process by falling out of bed last night (at 2am) on his face! I didn't realize until this morning that it was out. He is very excited that he doesn't have to go to the dentist and get a shot - they said any left over pieces will work their way out.

Thanks Harold, after extensive research i found the reel was made in 1931 and is extreamly rare and very desirable especially with the pure silk line. The value is estimated to be somewhare north of $5800. If the condition had been perfect in the box it would be worth $15000. What a great gift. Watch for it on ebay, you may get a chance to buy it again

Night time brown from the South Branch Thursday night. Only time I got to fish all weekend. Lots of thunder storms but Alissa and the boys weathered them well in the tent. Drew had a great time shooting bows and even broke a few ballons.

Would you believe it? A 20"+ lake trout from Lake Michigan tonight on a dipsy diver..Frank's first catch of the season. You can see the Charlevoix lighthouse in the background...we were across from the cement plant with warm southern breezes...then we let him go.

Good morning, Kris is back in OH, had an interview yesterday with the DS in Indiana. There are 4 churhes with openings for a student pastor-she should be placed at one of them. Dan goes to the doctor thursday to get his cast off/hopefully that will be the end of it. Sandy and I go to UofM July 1, if all goes as planned should transplant in September. Guess that about covers all of us. Oh, Ash is working two jobs and studying for the GRE!!

Not doing a whole ton of monuments. Walked the mall last night, saw abe, WWII, and the giant tent spike (aka, the washington monument). Today we spent the day at the Native American Museum, that was pretty cool. Also walked around the capitol and through the US Botanical Garden, that was nifty Connie you could have spent hours with your camera. Oh and we did go see the premier of Indiana Jones on Weds.

Good Morning, 40 degrees and cloudy. Frank's Aunt Marjorie Taylor passed away yesterday. They put down her little dog Megan who was reaching the end of her life also. Aunt Marge was 95, a Flint resident all of her life. She and Brandy shared an August birthday. Our love and prayers to Martha & Janie, yesterday was Martha's 70th birthday. Brookins Cemetery is pictured...on South Holly Road 1/4 mile west of Fish Lake Road on the north side. Norton Park's body was moved from the Rose Center Cemetery to this site, no stone for him but did find 'Leland'. I was pulling line like hell to keep my fly from getting caught in some brush and the fish hammered it. Pretty exciting, my knees were wobbling a long time after that fish. Pretty cold up there so I was happy to catch anything. Frost on the tent fly Sunday morning and 29 deg. I stayed over at Canoe Harbor campground to be closer to where I like to fish. I don't know which one of those stats in Lurker's post I believe the least. About as believable as a 16" trout!

Our neighbor's 4-H pigs arrived this weekend. Some more animals for the kids to check out. I don't think Josie liked them...she stayed swirled around in her stroller and said "go home" repeatedly. At home she found a bubble jar and sat in the corner of our garage door playing with it forever. I finally captured her funny face look. It makes me giggle everytime she makes it.

I would add in the famous snowstorm of 1978 Sandy and I were on our way from the Columbus airport and were kept from getting home for a week. We were stranded in a house with 6 kids and 6 adults for 4 days and had to go all the way to Fort Wayne in a round about way of a hundred miles to get home. The kids were with Grandma Parks and Sandy blew the engine of the Buick going to get them. NOW that was a snowstorm

So here is the official notification of the Easter party and egg hunt. Plan to eat at 1:00 all the usual foods. If you want to post what you are bringing that will help others. We will do the meat and breads and try to fill in any other gaps. Thank goodness the eggs are colored otherwise it might be hard to find them in the snow. This was Henry Christopher's army unit. Only two Michigan Civil War regiments have monuments on the grounds of the Michigan state capitol building. That to the engineers was dedicated in 1912...maybe someone could get us a picture...

It's raining and around 60 degrees here, I didn't bother wearing a coat today, it's ridiculous. I talked to dad today and his doctor told him he didn't have to use his walker or his cane if he didn't want to, that he could drive, and that even though its only been 3 weeks, his knee is healed to the point it should be at 6 weeks. He is one happy birthday boy!!!!!

Talked with Aunt Carole, if anyone would like to contribute to their local SPCA, that would be nice. Mary & Larry worked with the animals there in Roseville, CA near Sacramento. Sad news. Aunt Carole called to tell us that Larry died last night. He had cancer and had been treated since last July. They will fly him back to Missouri to be with the family, his funeral is on Tuesday. He and Mary lived in California. Aunt Carole wanted us all to know. She said we didn't need to send flowers, and was still enjoying the Christmas poinsetta we sent. Hugs to all!

It will be a big surprise party complete with a renewal of vows, wedding dress, etc. Plus a DJ and some circus act or live tigers or something. You can have your water and ice fridge. I had to crawl into the crawl space to turn the water off. The fridge started leaking and soaked the carpet. All the dust and doh hair in the coils stinks like hell. Now I have to vacume it out. Are there any able bodies left in the family to move a fridge?

Good Morning! We have a new refrigerator! GE came through with a good deal for us. They covered the cost of gaskets and repair bills for our 5 year old model, free delivery & pick up, and a discount on the new one. Now we have filtered ice & water dispensed in the door!

I have my wing holder on. The Doc said I could take it off once and awhile. I didn't use my right arm for anything. But I bet they could make an issue if they wanted too. So put the pictures back. Any pictures with out the sling must have been when the strap broke. I belive it was being repaired!
