Parks Family Guestbook Archive: 2004

Darrell
Just got back from Parks'Place. 52 Degrees and sunny at noon. Most of the snow is gone too. Had a 15 yard shot at a doe and a dink last night. Didn't take it, maybe she will produce a buck next spring.

Kris
Its always good to see someone beat UofM, too bad it doesn't count in the ccha standings!!!! and hey I have to give you updates, you would update me if it were the other way around!!!!!!!
- Fri Dec 31 2004 3:47PM
MR
The snows gone. We were skating on Xmas and it looks we could go swimming on New Years. Kris and Connie are probably the only one's who would brave the waters though!
- Fri Dec 31 2004 10:30AM
MR
You never hear about it up here either except when the cow-bell toting rowdy NMU fans give an update.
- Fri Dec 31 2004 10:29AM
Connie
Frank said you never hear about college hockey down here. Our MSU cheese, shipped on Dec 20, finally arrived yesterday. Guess it is aged...Have a great weekend and Happy New Year!

- Fri Dec 24 2004 6:32AM
Connie & Frank
HO, HO, HO Merry Christmas Eve! Got here at 8pm, the elves had the popcorn balls almost finished, the lights on the tree were 'flashing', and there were tons of presents all wrapped up and waiting for tonight! See you at 5!
- Fri Dec 24 2004 6:29AM
MR
Good skating last night. I shoveled last night so I think its only fair that Kris shovels today since she did skate last night. Please be done by 5:00 tonight and a little wider wouldn't hurt anything. Maybe Ash and Adam can help.
- Thu Dec 23 2004 9:47AM
Nancy
Thanks Brandy, but I think I have everything covered.
- Thu Dec 23 2004 7:47AM

Nancy
Hope to see everyone on Christmas Eve between 5-6 p.m. at my house.
- Wed Dec 22 2004 3:01PM
MR
Ya your right. Not as bad as the 12 year old cousin who let his 2 yr old cousin fall off the top of the slide.
- Wed Dec 22 2004 11:44AM
Kris
Child abuse?? GEEZ you ARE a wimp!!!!!!!!!
- Wed Dec 22 2004 9:43AM
MR
I don't think I'll forget that one since I hear the story again every winter:) That whole incendent would be grounds for child abuse now-a-days.
- Tue Dec 21 2004 7:58AM
Darrell
Lots of deer tracks on the pond. Don't know about skating, there is about 2 inches of crusted snow on the ice.
- Tue Dec 21 2004 7:26AM
Connie
Good Morning! First Day of Winter and 33 degrees here. Remember the first time skating in the driveway Mick? Fell on your rear...and swore at the fool that 'got you into this mess'-I believe that was your grandpa!
- Tue Dec 21 2004 7:19AM
MR
A good 3" of ice on the pond. I'll be skating Friday morning if we don't get a bunch more snow and it doesn't warm up.
- Mon Dec 20 2004 10:21PM
Connie
Happy Birthday Ash! You and Aunt Carole share a birthday, hope it is a happy day! Hugs to all! Thanks for the news Kris. We met TW Perkins when we had the jeep and lived in the trailer park at Lennon. A couple slid off the road into the ditch, we ran up to his house to call for help. Probably Mary won't get an email, will get a card to her.
- Mon Dec 20 2004 7:01AM
Kris
Mom wanted me to tell you all that Mary Orr fell and broke her leg. She slipped on some wrapping paper and her titanium knee replacement smashed throuh her bones. She is currently awaiting surgery to fix it. Dad also wanted me to tell you all that TW Perkins died. I think thats all the bad knews I have, hopefully there will be some good news for christmas!!!
- Sun Dec 19 2004 2:44PM
Connie
Yup, pretty good story! And now we have a picture of Nick! Good shooting guys! See you real soon!
- Sun Dec 19 2004 4:18AM
Bunnie_pics
Nort forwarded this picture to me. I thought I'd add the story too because its pretty darn good: Hello Nick got his first rabbit tonight. He got it with the new Henery. First shot ever at a bunny. One shot one kill. I jumped it on the creek bank and he didn't shoot because it was "running in the tall grass"! I circled around to the pond and ran it back to him. Shot it across the creek about 25 yards. I shot one about 2 min later in the same area. Seen 2 others. 1 I missed at my feet sitting in a brush pile. Must have hit a stick! He wants to know if you will post it for him. See ya next week.
- Sun Dec 19 2004 12:04AM
Connie
Good Morning! Hope Kris has good driving weather, us too... Have fun baking cookies and making those popcorn balls, we will have fun eating them!

The Wiggles meet Frosty?
- Fri Dec 17 2004 5:32PM
MR
Oh its all Frosty all the time. I got him out of the car last night and two seconds after he woke up "Frosty!". He watches Frosty and as soon as its over, "Frosty!". The Wiggles are gonna be out of business soon.
- Fri Dec 17 2004 3:42PM
Kris
OHH MR this is only the beginning, you have many many years of frosty and rudolph left, I have them both on video if you feel the urge to watch either one of them. Exams are all over YAY!!!!!!!! Now to find time over break to get to the library at MSU to start my research for my directed study next semester. 142 days till graduation, but who's counting????
- Fri Dec 17 2004 1:47PM
Connie
We received a mystery package from cousins Linde & Fred, can't open it until Christmas...doubt it is snowmen from Ontonagon. What do you think it is? It is smaller than a shoebox...
- Fri Dec 17 2004 10:16AM
MR
Sounds like Gwen and Josh were busy, busy, busy. Be careful, when those snowmen come to life they don't know nuthin'. The weather man says the thermometor won't get all red anytime soon so no need to put them on the train to the North Pole just yet. If this doesn't make sense, watch "Froshy" 500 times and re-read.
- Fri Dec 17 2004 8:02AM
Connie
Good Morning! Only one week to go...Hope the exams are going well Kris, see you soon!
- Fri Dec 17 2004 7:46AM

- Thu Dec 16 2004 8:58PM
Connie
Hi Everybody...went for a long bike ride today, out to the new Town Center, about 16 miles round trip. Bought a couple of Christmas presents, but it still doesn't feel like Christmas here. Any snow up there?
- Thu Dec 16 2004 5:22PM
Kris
What do you mean cramming it into one week, I spent all of yesterday teaching myself evolution. I have a great new quote about procrastination, but I had better not put that up here!!
- Thu Dec 16 2004 9:30AM
MR
How's those exams coming Kris? Probably weary trying to cram 4 months of studying into 1 week if your like I was. Drew asked when Ka-ten was coming home to see Ashey, Na, and Wose.
- Thu Dec 16 2004 8:03AM
Alissa
No comment otherwise the FCC would fine me!
- Wed Dec 15 2004 2:47PM

About the whole donkey thing, Maybe there is a reason it got chosen as the democratic party's mascot!!!!
- Wed Dec 15 2004 9:52AM
Connie
Good Morning! Florida is cool! 30 degrees now. Bay Shore (MI) is 25 and sunny...
- Wed Dec 15 2004 8:04AM
Connie
Good Morning! We were wondering who is the other donkey, glad it isn't Uncle Dan! He would steal the show!
- Tue Dec 14 2004 7:02AM
Alissa
I guess I'd rather be known as a jacka_ _ than a cow(that was the other choice)! We'll see how Drew does, I think he likes the angel parts much better believe it or not. I'll just be happy if he doesn't run around the church or cry. See you all soon!
- Mon Dec 13 2004 8:56PM
Rose
Guess we better do popcorn balls before the 23rd!! The Christmas program at church is Sunday at 6:00, won't want to miss the two family members. They will be easily recognized, the donkeys!!! Of course Alissa is claiming something about the democratic party, we all know better!!:) (I will pay for this one)
- Mon Dec 13 2004 8:33AM
Connie
Good Morning! Frank made our reservation...we will stay in Sweetwater, TN on the Dec. 22, be at Nan's on the 23rd, and see you all on Christmas Eve, not that I'm counting...
- Mon Dec 13 2004 7:09AM
Kris
Exams start tomarrow, can't wait to get away from campus and our recently aquired foot and a half of snow!!!! 146 days till graduation, not that I'm counting or anything!!!!
- Sun Dec 12 2004 3:00PM
Connie
In one year Drew has grown so much, hope Santa is good to him! Can't wait to see him and all of you guys! Kris good luck with exams, not long before you get a break, then you are almost finished! Good going!

I talked with Aunt Carole and Uncle Hank. They wanted you all to know that Aunt Dorothy died unexpectedly of a heart attack. Uncle Hank drove her to the hospital and Aunt Carole joined him there. No service is planned, James & Lisa are coming tonight. If you want to send a card: Henry C. Parks, HC#01, Box 301, Fairdealing, MO 63939. He was glad to talk to me, I'm sure he would appreciate hearing from you too. He said to stay happy!
- Mon Dec 6 2004 11:00AM

- Sun Dec 5 2004 7:32AM
Darrell
Got the important stuff done today. Shot the muzzle loader. Still dead on at 100 after sitting for a year. Nick and I put out bait at Parks' Place this morning. It was raining real hard this morning and was 22 degrees last night. The second batch of Frank's bagles turned out excellent. Every one at work wants the receipt.

- Wed Dec 1 2004 3:02PM

I missed a doe Sunday AM. Well, shaved some belly hair. She was running in the tall corn though! Or maybe standing in on the sandhill in the cornfield where there's no corn. Stupid 870 that I only carry when it rains. I bet it was with an overunder and my reject slugs from 10 years ago.
- Wed Dec 1 2004 9:56AM

Saw a few more red and green lights in the lamps, doesn't seem to be attracting those deviates...saw more palm trees lighted up, and one pink flamingo that does some kind of ballet dance on the front lawn... that's what we need!

Goodmorning. Kris is back in the U.P. and life is back to routine. Did manage to get a Christmas list this weekend from the two of them. Three weeks and Kris will be home for a month. Don't have to worry about Dan running anyone out of his blind, MR is farm police!!! He may want to think twice next time.:) Happy Thanksgiving to all. Ms. Kris should be below the bridge by now. Haven't seen her since the first of October, that won't be a problem with Ash. I told her I work with many people who commute from Lansing. I think MR & Alissa drive farther than MSU daily. I won't repeat what she said.... C & F enjoy your first warm Thanksgiving, while we shovel snow! Yuck
- Tue Nov 23 2004 1:31PM

Glad to hear there's one cousin down the lane going to the banks of the Red Cedar. Dan, your 2nd doe permit is in the mail. The ribs from the last deer were picked clean pretty quick on the rock pile. Must be the 'yotes and fox have a faster cooking method than Frank:)

Now with that decision over, she is agressively seeking scholarships. Miss Kris comes home tomorrow, yeah!! Her semester is almost over,(hard to believe) one to go. I thought of all you crazy guys today when I was at good ole wally world. The place was packed full of old men in orange and flannel buying bacon and eggs to stock deer camp with. Up here the highshoolers don't even have school on monday due to the fact that half of the school wouldn't be there anyway:)

Guess not, saw one no-hunting sign after April 2001... All we have seen are spiders, lots of bear in Lake County, but not where we are walking in Marion County. They even have barriors along the highway to keep the bear off the road.

So do you and Frank get bitched at and run off these trails? Or don't they hunt down there?!

Back from Vegas today. The time change is a bit much for this old lady. The mountains were awesome, shows good and casino's, ah well, not my thing. Good to be back in Michigan, gotta get Dan's clothes clean for hunting and do some shopping. Have a good weekend.

Good luck! Cookies are good bait...We have been out on the Florida Trail this morning, the foot path, bike path, and horse trail all sort of criss-cross. The foot path is best, the bike path winds around through the palmettos, and the horse trail is loose sand, like walking on the beach. Have a good weekend everybody!

Danny pulled the "rack" off the garage wall from lurker's questionable spike from a long time ago. Lurker's was a trophy compared to this one. I had a 8 and a 10 in range but I just shot arrows into the ground to scare them away so I could hold out for this one:)

The tape at Danny's said 2.5". I think a deep-well socket and hammer would make it 3" if necessary.

Ash looks mean, of course as NGP would confirm, SHE IS!! It's a sad day at our house today, Dan Parks suffered a huge loss last night. Big surprise, he was a republican in genesee county!!

Drew wanted to get up and watch some election coverage at 4:00AM to. Looks like Bush but the lawyers will dispute it for a few months before its offical. Flipped over to a re-run of a football game. Can we pass the hat around to get this girl a disposable 35mm? It will take a lot of $1 Best Buy Bucks to get a new camera. Maybe Gwen has a Barbie camera or something. When you feel like royalty, she even offered to be her State Mom. I think she will go the nutritional science route and apply to PA school from there. Ash was pretty excited. It was a total GREAT weekend. If you get a chance, read the article in the Journal, sunday. It's in the Swartz Creek section. The hayride on saturday was lots of fun, around 50 people came. Ash plays her last two basketball games in the Creek this week. Won't be long and we can watch Drew. Thank goodness, what will Uncle Dan do till then:)

Last night I saw a spike/4point cross about 100 yards down the trail. Then an 8 point at 17 yards that was comming perfect until the big bastard (10) ran him off. Never did get a shot at either one of them. Than at dark I had a 5 point come in to the baite pile. I shot an arrow into the ground next to him just to get him to leave. I didn't want him to see me climb down. Didn't keep track of does and dinks.

Good Morning! Shopped at Lowe's yesterday-bought a few tropical plants, paintable shutters for the windows, and a garage attic ladder to install, maybe a lawn mower next... all is going well. Good luck tomorrow Ash & Rose!

I was wondering why it was soo dark around 10:00. Took the pup out at 3:00 and it was really bright but couldn't see a moon. Had a spike and an 8 point in the lane about 40 yards from the bait pile for over an hour last night. Also have a 10 point that comes in at dark. One of them will screw up yet. Mr you can hunt it Sat morning, night or Sundy morning. I will be up rideing. Corner stand by the 2 creeks is baited.

The MSU spartan hockey team coached by Rick Comley was swept this weekend at Northern Michigan University. The wildcats defeated the spartans 3-2 on friday and 4-1 on sat. The MVP of saturday nights game was Jamie Milam 06 with a hat trick and Goal Tender Tuomas Tarkki who stopped a total of 37 shots. NMU's victory over the spartans this weekend put them well above the spartans in the CCHA standings!!

How about calling it the Michigan House and the Florida House instead of The Villages and Village Rd. Also, Bush is always in Flordia(Jeb), but Bush is also sometimes in Michigan or Florida or DC or wherever(GW). Put the two together and its really tough for us MSU grads to decipher:) I'm sure the Rhodes Scolar on the beautiful, beer-can-free campus at NMU has no problem though!

Good Morning! Received a message from Sandy (Dewitt) White from my class of '63. She and her husband Jerry built a home on M66, right across from Village Road. We have new neighbors! Not sure where the place is, must be up on the hill in the woods... Happy hunting guys!

We need some Boy Scout tips on how to handle German Shepards that wander out of their yard (through the invisible fence) and bark at us on our way to the bus stop. Mom gets VERY nervous walking all four of us down the road. I thought maybe someone on here would remember what to do when approached by a wild animal. Had to fess up to my teacher at preschool that I only went today because I was mad at my mom for not letting me wear my leotard. I also let the class know that my brother eats markers (!?) and that I have a big sister (!?). Was a pretty good day. We went on a tree walk and made a project that mom thought was contructed entirely out of glue. Today was also wear your favorite color...of course I wore black even though my favorite colors are blue, purple and pink. Overall I'd say it was a pretty productive class!

We are thinking of you today...sending lots of prayers!

It was a good weekend considering what we face in the next two days. Dan & Ash were doing mission work at a church in Detroit, they got home Sunday just before Ms. Kris pulled out. She got back in Marquette about 9 p.m. Kris and I went shopping in Lansing and stopped to visit the boys at MSU and take them for ice cream. We had lots of fun. Have a good week. Think of us tomorrow, we can use all the prayers we can get. The senior candle walk is Wednesday night, it's homecoming this week. Now, won't that be fun!:(

So sorry to learn about the loss of Aimee...hugs to Ash and seniors at SC High School.

Sounds like you had a pretty good weekend! We did too! Got home in 3 1/2 hrs, snow is in the forecast, light rain now and 57 degrees. Will be back down in a couple of weeks. Thanks Dan and Rose for sharing the letters from Dick and Lena to Gay and Nelle, Jan 1945. They are treasures! NGP and BB thanks again for the hospitality!

Too many deer to choose from. Didn't know which one to shoot first. So I will look over the pictures and decide which one to take next time! Seen 4 at home too. Shot a chuck in the barn. Hope he was the only one.

Hi there! Happy hunting!
- Sat Oct 2 2004 7:09AM
MR
Saw 5 deer tonight in Owendale. We went coon hunting w/Duane and Denis Delong last night. Got two. Quit at 1:30. Getting ready to go buck hunting right now. Yawn...zzz...Yawn.
- Sat Oct 2 2004 4:43AM
MR
That would've been a safe bet:) Saw one eating beans on the sandhill on the way back this morning. Not quite enough moonlight. I think I jumped the same one on the way back. Evening hunt will be from Owendale if dad hasn't gotten 'em all shot up by now.
- Fri Oct 1 2004 8:36AM

Speaking from experience, I wouldn't bet too much on that one :-D

It is a beautiful morning for the first day of bow season. Of course Mick was up and out the door earlier than I care to think about. Maybe we will have venison in our freezer this year!
- Fri Oct 1 2004 7:45AM
Connie
Good Morning, we are having one of those beautiful pink and blue sunrises, 48 degrees. Have a nice October 1st!
- Fri Oct 1 2004 6:29AM
Kris
We do have a beautiful campus, of course the UP as a whole is prettier than down state and besides you will never see a case of beer being carried around campus, we go off campus for that, or there's always the dorm parties with the wap. Not all people from NMU work at McDonalds, the CEO of starbucks graduated from NMU, so most of us go work there!!!
- Thu Sep 30 2004 2:18PM
MR
Go there on one of the 359 days a year when there isn't a home football game. I hear all the out-of-towners from Flint come over there and leave their trash around making the place look bad. I'll have to ask an NMU grad about the campus next time I go to McDonalds.
- Thu Sep 30 2004 1:54PM
Rose
Keep telling me how beautiful MSU is, that certainly is not the impression at a football game!!! I know it's a mother thing, I think NMU is far more my speed. Anyway, a lot less cases of beer being carried around campus!!
- Thu Sep 30 2004 12:20PM
Connie
Good Morning! 39 degrees here. Sorry we won't be there for the party, maybe we will see you Oct 14-16, MSU Grand Awards Thursday night and Homecoming Open House before the game on Saturday. Ash and Rose, enjoy that beautiful campus!

I've been having difficulty figuring out when we can have Nick's birthday. Looks like we will have to do it Saturday, Oct. 9th. Things going on the weekend after his actual birthday. So it's the 9th, with dinner at 5:00 or there abouts. Sorry for the short notice. I hope at least some of you will be able to come and that the weather holds out. We've been having some great sunrises and sunsets, all pinks, blues and oranges.
- Wed Sep 29 2004 5:55PM

Going to take a look at that Big Mac today, and visit Wilderness. Good job painting Dan, will need to post some pictures. Report from Florida is that the hurricane came through on the weekend, our area was lucky, trees and lightpoles down, some roof damage; Orlando & Daytona were hardest hit. Hope to see you before we go down on Oct 17.
- Wed Sep 29 2004 5:17AM
Kris
Yes, it will definitely be a beautiful drive, especially once I cross the big mac!! Snow is in the forcast for marquette this weekend, and just last weekend I was swimming, can I say I definitely hate michigan!!!!!
- Tue Sep 28 2004 10:11AM
Rose
Dan went to visit Gay last night, he was glad to see him and doing well. He gave Dan a copy of two letters from Mom & Dad dated January 4, 1945, pretty cool. As Ash was quick to point out, that was the year someone was born!! So Grandma would have been pregnant. Of course she remembered that from the interview. The barn painting is complete and the glass is being replaced in the windows. I have to say it looks really sharp, I guess it was worth risking his life on top of the ladder and hanging out the windows. I know you are sorry to have missed that one Connie, don't worry, Alissa worried enough for both of you. I just stayed in the house.:) I'll send a copy of those letters to Charlevoix today. Feels like fall is now here.

Glad to hear you all survived the dock, another year. We had a great time with Drew, nothing shy about that boy. We went to the vegetable stand and out to eat after, the best part was watching people trying to decide if he belonged to the two old farts or Ash & Adam. They of course had fun with that one. Don't think they want to be parents any time soon, praise the lord!! Next weekend Dan & Ash go to Detroit for a mission overnight and Ms. Kris is coming home, YEAH!! Have a good week, sounds like the weather will be.

Drew had a great time at Ashley's soccer game. It sounds like he was the crowd entertainment. They had a lot to cheer about because Ashley scored four goals! We went to a surprise party for Uncle Bob and Aunt Sue's fortieth wedding anniversary. It was very nice. Have a great week everyone!

Good Morning! I am happy to report that all is well here, the dock and hoists are in. The dock workers are recovering nicely from a very strenuous job... Thanks so much guys! It was a great effort!

Stopped in Grayling on the way up last night and had enough light to catch a 10" Brookie. First September trout for me. Caught him on a 16 Royal Wulff with the ole' cane pole. Pretty good for 1/2 hour of fishing.

I'm packed and ready. Have to scientifically pack things to hide the good stuff when you park in the big city. I use junk like a sweatshirt, sleeping bag, and my work laptop 'puter to cover up the essentials. Bow, .22, and cane pole.
- Fri Sep 24 2004 6:55AM

Pretty much packed and ready to go when Nick gets home from school.

I am staying home with my mommy this weekend. She is going with Aunt Brandy and Grandma to a party on Saturday so I get to see Ashley play soccer with Aunt Rose and Uncle Dan. Yipeeee! I like to say Ashley's name all of the time, but still won't talk to her when I see her....:o)

Good Morning, the Bagel Chef is mixing the dough, step 2 go for a run (let dough raise), step 3 shape, step 4 let raise again (do situps, etc.), step 5 boil, step 6 bake, step 7 cool & eat! Did you get all that Sam?

It's fun to have a new car. I can't believe I am this old, but my brother and I rode in the old Model A Ford to pick up the 'new' car, a 1946 Ford coupe. Good luck to Ash!

Drew and I bought a new car on Friday - traded in the Durango. Drew was scared of it at first, but when we said bye,bye to the Durango he felt much better. It is a Chevy Malibu and it drives really nice.

Dan & I went to the State game on Saturday. Had a pretty good time tailgating, nothing like being in a crowd of a bunch of drunks!! I loved the band, of course. Had the basketball team at our house yesterday for supper. Last time for that. Should be visiting MSU with Ash, October 1 thanks to Aunt Connie. She is lucky to have famous Aunt. Thanks Constance!!!:)

Doesn't look like Sue and Sam are going north next weekend.Sam has drivers training classes. Oh well more cookies for me!
- Sun Sep 19 2004 1:32PM
Connie
I am baking cookies for sure! Can't wait for you guys to get here. Hope it is this nice next weekend, 76 degrees outside, 66 inside. Good luck driving Sam! My experience driving the 'family car'- turned off Grand Blanc Road onto Seymour Road and forgot to slow down. The gravel was flying, Dad thought I was going to wipe out Fletcher School. Didn't drive again 'til Lewie graduated from college, and sold me his '62 Chevy Biscayne. Dan was the next owner...

I would like to put an order in for a BATCH (not 1) of Frank's bagels. The things you buy down here suck compared to his. So I would like to be able to bring a few back with me. Would this be possible? You answer has not impact on weather we will be there next weekend. But you shouldn't take any chances!

The guy with the dog bite leg played tennis this morning, seems that he is on the mend. Another beautiful day, GO GREEN. How's that Kris? Hope all is going well this semester. Dock out in one week, see you all soon!
- Sat Sep 18 2004 12:46PM
Connie
Hi there! Went to Hartwick Pines and walked the trails today, BJ swam in the Au Sable. Beautiful day! The leg is doing fine, a plate of cinnamon rolls and a bag of smelly soaps and lotions was waiting on the bench for him...
- Fri Sep 17 2004 5:31PM
Darrell
Frank, maybe you should the $50 out of the dog. MR, that must be why you got him. 10 yards!
- Thu Sep 16 2004 9:16PM
Connie
Well we are not so lucky, Frank went for a run this morning and got bit by a dog. We made a trip to the ER and he got a few stitches in his leg, at the back of the knee. The dog is in quarantine and owner's will be fined $50. Doc said he should run in a different direction next time, and no swimming for a week.
- Thu Sep 16 2004 2:32PM

Gwen finished her first week of preschool. She brought home the VIP bag today. She says that she got it because she was a good girl. Gwen Archer---Maybe it was her last name instead. Anyways, the crying beforehand was a lot less today...probably because I let her wear a dance skirt! Whatever works. Josh and Drew get a nice view of preschool life too because they are big helpers (ha) when dropping off and picking up.
- Thu Sep 16 2004 11:51AM

One fox squirrel last night, in self-defense. He came down the tree and charged right at me. Finally stopped at about 10 feet.

Got a Red, Fox and Black Squirrel at Parks' Place this morning. Didn't see a Gray one to compleat the color sceem. Had another dozen chances that I left for the next guy. Also saw a Timber Dootle by the creek. No Porkeys this time.

I learned that a Hand Gernade can actually do more damage than a Hurricane.
- Tue Sep 14 2004 11:31AM

Now the question remains, did you learn from those hurricanes, or did you keep going back for more punishment?
- Tue Sep 14 2004 11:06AM

The Hurricane's hit me pretty hard when I was in New Orleans. I think its a longer Hurricane season down there. You can buy one and carry it down the street in a Geaux Cup.

Good Morning! Hurricane Watch continues, looks like Ivan will hit the panhandle, New Orleans...

Good Morning! Happy Birthday Joshua Lewis!! Received another hurricane report from neighbors in Florida. Our little 'live oak' bit the dust. No ball from the game. The wimp that hit an HR could only get it into the street to hit a van. We were across the street and high up. Pretty nice watching a game and having people bring you food. Not like going to a real game and paying $8 for a hot dog.
- Thu Sep 9 2004 7:57AM

Hugs to Nick! Glad you don't have to have that IV! We would have all been hurting with you! Good luck in school, and training that puppy!

Ya his first name had the initals KOP. Kent,on Parks. So he changed the spelling of Kenton to Kent,in. Didn't like the sound of yelling Kop, Kop while running through the woods with a gun!

Mick is flying to Chicago this morning for a work meeting...the only way they could justify flying everyone out for the Cubs game tonight. My sister and her family came down this weekend and I went with them to the Renaissance Festival - it was packed and hot! Will have to go back some other off weekend. Mick was on the look out for toys at Kenton, but no luck, that is hard to believe...maybe we will have to send lurker on an e-bay search! Drew says hi!

- Mon Sep 6 2004 4:38PM

You forgot about the porkeys. I think Buckey might be a bad influence on KIP. Heading back to sight in the 22 now.
- Mon Sep 6 2004 9:31AM
Connie
Hey, way to go Nick! What's your dog's name? Glad you had a good time. Want Bucky to help train him? He has flushed out grouse at 32 to the right, kept ducks off our beach, and even sniffed out a few cans...

Looks like Nick is a real Kenton goer now. Bought his first 22 and dog this weekend. So far both Nick and the dog are IN the house for now!

- Fri Sep 3 2004 7:10AM

We took Drew to Toy's R Us last night. Funniest thing. We were looking for some Wiggles DVDs and he saw them right away. They were on the bottom rack so he just walked over there and sat down and stared at them. Ya we brought some home. Got tired of looking at the same samples on thewiggles.com 100 times in a row.

Tubby will be ready by 6 a.m. on Tuesday!! I'll be sure of it. Lurker and Tubby are just jealous they have to stay under a tarp, it's hell getting old. Just one more reason to be glad God gave me girls!:) Kris is headed north on I75 today, should be in Marquette by 1:00. The buick was loaded to the windows, but the driver has a smile on her face. Nan & I go Wednesday to help her set up her house and of course I have the charge card. Should be the last trip to the U.P., hard to believe. Have a great week.

Good Morning! Glad to hear the installation is going well. We are still painting our place, trim and two sides are done. Book sale went very well yesterday. Kris and Mick I didn't find the authors/titles you mentioned. I did Dash & Dart (1942)-a story about two fawns; and Johnny Maple-Leaf (1948), and Little Plays for Little People. Frank bought a book on sharpening (saws), and I found 'Harry S. Truman' by his daughter. I'll bring the books for the kids when we come for the Crim next weekend. Have a great weekend!

If running down Mr. Weatherby would lose camping rights I'd be sleeping by the water races right now. So you got Sue punching down jacks for ya?

Sue and I got home from doing phones just after 12. Got to be back in Lansing at 5am. Long day tomorrow. Might have enough OT $ to get a Mr. Weatherby. Na, wouldn't wast the money. I have yet to see one actually kill a deer that wasn't half dead already. Probily just lost camping rights!

Don't worry I have lots of blankets, and am continuously making more guess I'm kind of addicted. Well senior year is gonna rock. If you find any childrens books by Ray Buckley, that would rock, they are really awesome and really hard to find, but he is an awesome story teller :)

OK! Going to jump in for a swim now, frost warning for tonight! Kris had better pack a couple of extra blankets for that new bed. Have a good trip North, and a good Senior year! YEAAAAAA!

WOW, that's great! I can tell you guys are getting the fever. The maple leaves are starting to change color. Fall is coming early this year. Today is bright and sunny, going to work at my first big book sale...Anybody need any books? What subjects? Donations only, not priced.

Big buck sighting tonight! About 7:00 a real wide 8 with the velvet falling off ran across the road into the bean field between the houses and kept going towards the rock pile, almost running over Alissa and Drew who were walking down the lane. Alissa said he kept running down the lane and stopped to look back from the sand hill. Pretty cool. I saw his track at the trial intersection just east of the pond.

We have a prof on campus who specializes in Great Lakes fish, if you get me a pic I could see what he says it is when I get back up there next week. I mean if you really care that much.

He found this biodegradable soap online, thinks it's cool. Well it is, the water temp is down to 68... Hope you are all having a good week!! Sorry the picture of the rock bass didn't match your fish, maybe you have a mutation...

Big storm brewing here! I will try to catch a rock bass and take a picture of it, chances are I won't catch anything. Guys were fishing off the dropoff for walleye last night as we were taking a late night swim/bath.

It's not a goldfish. I hav a half dozen of them back there and they are getting pretty big. I thought they might be rock bass too. Will look and take the camera next time.

Checked our Gamefish posters, not there. Must be some of those pale goldfish you buy at the dimestore.

Send us a pic of one of these lunkers. Sounds like a golden-bluegilled-rock bass:) The little fishing game laws book they sell with licenses has color pics. Or do a google search on "fish identification".

Mr, Lew or Frank. Trying to find out what kind of fish I have in my pond. Where is a good place to see pix of Michigan fish? The one I cought tonight was about 8 inches long and about 4 inches wide and 3 inches thick. Full of eggs too. Nick and I cought a slew of the same ones anywheres fron 1 and a half inches long to 4 inches long. They have a big mouth like a bass and are almost clear. You can see through the littler ones. They have black specks like an inkpen dot on paper all over them. Looks like you could scrape them off with your fingernail. I cought these in the pond at Parks'Place last year and transplanted them here. I cought one about the same size a couple nights ago and Sam cought one too. They are thicker than crap. I feed them most every night and the pond boils. I need a couple small mouth bass to keep them under control. Every one I catch under 3 inches goes to feed the coon.

Drew and I stopped by the Rummage Sale on Friday morning. Marge and Carol showed me a picture of little Easton. He is a cutie. Carol said they are doing fine. Drew had lots of fun on Saturday with Gma and Gpa Parks. This weekend he gets to stay with Gma and Gpa Keillor while his mom and dad get a break! His favorite words right now are See ya! (which he learned from his big cousin Josh).

At least it will give me a couple dollars and days off for Kenton. Sue is going with Wanda to Florida for a couple weeks. Sam is going to stay with friends and Nick and I are going to Kenton. Hopefuly Lew and Dan will let us stay with them. Mr when are you going? I think we are going Thursday night till Sunday morning. There is room in the truck.

Good news from our next-door neighbors in The Villages, Florida. They were prepared for Charley's eye to hit head-on, but the course changed and they only got heavy winds and rain. Our place is OK. Too bad for those in Punta Gorda and Ft. Myers. Sunny here today, hugs to all!

It all depends on where you go off-roading. If you are off-roading in the mountains in marquette, its pretty hard to tear up the rock beneath you, but it is a good way to warm up the engine of a jeep, and its a LOT of fun!!!!!!!!

Happy Anniversary Mick & Alissa! Still raining here, my garden is enjoying this cooler weather-the broccoli and cabbage especially. Surprising what you can grow in a half barrel...Have a good day!

Raining here too! Man is it cold, 54 now. We finally turned on some heat, can't take hot showers and jump in the lake all the time. The lake is still about 72. Should be nicer by the weekend, good luck with the 300...

Na. Just nothing to write about. Work is busy. Have to install 300 phones at the Board of Water and Light next week and weekend. Its raining every damn night just as I get home and the lawn is pretty deep. Hunting season is too far off and yada, yada, yada

Off-Roading: taking your jeep onto a bunch of rocky trails and doing things that any normal person would NOT do with their vehicle. Climbing rocks, driving through mud holes, racing up and down sand dunes and I'm sure there are more examples than I am even aware of!

Hi everyone! Nothing new here, just visited all the family in the Thumb this weekend. Our grass is starting to come up and the rain today and tomorrow should help. Connie, I am actually helping to organize a 5k run/walk on September 11th in Howell and will be sending our race apps to the Crim. Look for them - it is called Run Drugs Out of Town Run - so you can assume what the run is about.

Hey, I know, when NGP & I move Kris back in a couple weeks, Nancy will surely want to visit Aunt Mary. We got some great news yesterday, Kristen is the first winner of the Tom Jennings/Farm Bureau scholarship. How cool is that. September 15 is the award day, since she will be far away, Dad is going to accept for her. Some how it seems so fitting. What an honor, to say nothing about less student loans. Have a good weekend.

Maybe we are twins! Just got calls from Aunt Mary and from Aunt Gladys. They said hello to everybody. Aunt Mary has a new sidewalk, recently took care of her great-grandson. Gladys is still working, worked 2 jobs today, 9 hours. Her birthday is tomorrow. Jalmer is picking blueberries. They would love to have us visit. Aunt Mary asked how Kris was doing, hadn't seen her in ages...

Sking grows back. Sounds like some more aggressive riding then what I've been doing. I'm riding the lawn mower and tractor out to the wheat stubble and forking straw into the trailer to put over the grass seed, what a blast. Free straw though. Danny and I moved the piano down here today.

Hello Nick and I just got back from Harrison riding. He is getting pretty good in the trails but I lost a little skin. Nothing serious but felt stupid. We helped these two drag their quad out to the road after they hit a stump and broke a tire. Then Nick and I went for about a 12 mile ride and on our way back, out of all the thousands of stumps, rocks and trees I hit the same one the two guys hit eariler. It knocked me off the quad and into a bunch of brush. The quad just rolled down the trail aways like a hourse whos rider got shot off. Thats what makes riding fun, the storys!

Hi, just wanted to let everyone know that Saturday, we are gonna have a picnic at our house after the shower. Probably around 6:30 to celebrate Kristen's 20th and see everyone before she heads north!! I'm gonna do hamburgs & venison steak on the grill, corn and drinks. Spoke with NGP last night, we hope Connie and Frank will still be in town. Maybe, Sandy & Lew will be down. Dan would love Lew's company during the shower, why I'm not sure!!:) Bring your swimming suits, Dan & Kris swam in the pond, cold but clean for a change. Hope to see you soon.

We went up north this weekend to my Grandma Sally's house. My dad went fishing all day on Saturday and said he caught 12 fish - but no pictures to prove it! I went swimming with my cousins and helped Mom and Grandma plant flowers. I got a new hair cut and could sign up for the Army now! I also helped Dad catch toads at the pond, but they kept hopping out of my hand - maybe next time we can catch one of those huge frogs!

Thank God, June is about over. 16 open houses and 3 50th Anniversary parties later, we made it!! Went to Jerry & Marla's, of course they missed Connie!! Good news is we got to sit with Bob & Mary and Freida & Doreen, at least we knew someone. Kris is at Bay Shore counseling this week and Ash is off to Mackinaw Island with Adam's family. Should be some peace on the farm. Glad to hear things are well in the north. Have a good week. My vacation this summer will be college shopping with Ash. She is really interested in MSU, but I am encouraging her to shop for scholarships, less student loans that way. Time will tell.

Good Morning! Saw a coyote out 32 to the left. He was moving slowly, maybe following the deer we saw later. Bucky went after him, but to no avail! Thank goodness. Fireworks at EJ last night, more to come on the Fourth!

MR, should I be scared that I actually know what you are talking about? It must have something to do with dating one of those nerdy engineer types :)

I put together a new PC the other night so the internet is faster than ever at our place. If you can find the world's best wireless antenna you can just point it SE and connect to our router:) Jeremy, I got MOHAA so we'll have to have a LAN party and be real nerds.

Hi Everybody! Well today I was purged from the MSU dialup Internet access. I am not a student, faculty, or retired faculty. I will now be joining you through Compuserve, using my same email address. Anybody else having trouble tonight?

Good Morning! Glad you had fun at the zoo! Maybe Kris will take a few pictures for us. We used to visit that zoo with Mom and Dad when we visited Jack & Velma. I remember the big black bears...

I celebrated father's day at Grandma and Grandpa's. Joshy and I swam in the lake and then we all went to the children's zoo. Kris doesn't work on Saturday but we had so much fun that we'll have to go back before she's done. By the way...mom says that those sheep and goats in the petting zoo look like they have one hoof in the grave and shouldn't be too much burden to watch over!!!!! Josh thought the choo choo was the best and I loved the merry go round! Happy Father's Day!

President Designate & Provost Simon will become the 20th President on January 1, 2005. Yup only 1 of 12 women in the top 62 research universities to hold this position. She is a smart lady! Nice water/weather, come on up!

UofM has a woman president too I think. I bet the colleges get kick-backs from Gov. Granny for that:). I don't mind if they hire Anna K.(Kornikova?) though:) I saw a woodchuck eating beans by the crick this morning. Called Danny and he ran out there and dumped him. Pretty good teamwork. Can't wait to get my guide fee from him.

She thought the foxes would get Bucky, she said there were a lot of bones up there, really big bones, and eight holes. We saw little guys outside the den one night, probably they had a few turkey drumsticks... I was glad to see that the turkey vultures were gone last night. Kris take some pictures when Sandy brings the grandkids, OK?
- Mon Jun 14 2004 10:43AM

I read that as the neighbors were warning that the turkey vultures were going to haul Bucky away. I don't think either one is very likely.

I would like to see the fox that would be bold enough to mess with a dog 3 times its size!! The zoo is still tons of fun, I have 4 more weeks there, but I get stationed in the petting zoo from 12-1 on monday, tuesday, and wednesday.(I get to cover lunches :-D )

Good Morning! Ten turkey vultures roosted in a tree across the road last night, saw fox in the orchards...one resident warned us, concerned that they might attack our dog. Saw one fox, real pretty in the sunset. Happy 35th Anniversary to Lewie & Sandy, was the two days off your celebration?

How about those people with carp swimming in their back yard and they're not near a lake or river??? Maybe nicer today. Cousin Heather's baby shower is Sat, July 10. Isn't that a special day for somebody around here?

Can't believe I'm getting screwed out of watching the Wings again! Its on Fox2 which I don't get and ESPN2 blacks it out because its on Fox2. BS! I was listening to it on an old radio of Grandpas. His "good" one after the leater one that probably got thrown in the Wallhalla brush long ago. Good place for this one. Finally got the web radio thing going. What a great deal with digital cable and broadband internet I can get AM radio.

41 degrees here and rain. Frank went for a run anyway. We have unpacked our boxes and will be ready to repack them for our trip to Florida next Sunday. Just a few items left-an ironing board for Sandy, big bookcase and lamp to Dan & Rose, ties from England that Gayland gave to Frank will go back to Gayland, old tools for Grandpa Z., lawn edger to Nan, then some junk in the shed that Darry will help us with. Then we will be done! Now we know what Mick & Alissa just went through...
- Sun Apr 25 2004 8:09AM

Brr! It's cold up here. Lew has been turkey hunting a few times but has been very windy and cold. The crops are going in and the beets are coming up. Lew is hoping for rain so they don't get crusty. I am counting down the rest of the school year. Flying fast. Good luck to Rose this week. You are in our prayers! Keep us posted.

We are home, tired, but had a great time. Dan is in the field, the house is gone and all I can say is SAD is how the three of us at this house feel. A shower and some sleep will help. I'm pretty sure that is why Dan is in the field, ALONE. Hope you all had a good easter, more later.

What a beautiful day. Glad to have the neighbors back! Drew got his first injury the other day when he fell on the asphalt walking path at Genesis. Just scrapes to the face, but he looked like a boxer for a day or two. Mick is working on staining the windows and I am trying to organize some of our stuff. Back to work tomorrow, bummer!

We're home. Tweny hours is a long ride in a car....thank goodness for dvd's in cars! I think my family might just be sick of Angelina Ballerina and Lilo and Stitch. Who says watching too much TV causes ADD. You should see Josh stare at that screen...and stare...and stare! We are working on downloading some pictures to share. We have a great one of an alligator eating our stuffed duck...glad it wasn't Josh that fell in the water!

Well the demolition and clearing away is complete; it is amazing how much space there is. Besides not having water for a few hours because the well was hit, everything went smoothly. The house and garage are cleared away and the old septic is filled. I thought ole Kooter was going to have a heart attack when they were smashing the septic tank right next to his house! Feel free to come by and visit, I am off of work this week and Drew would love to see you. Nan, Drew and I went to the tile place today and we may ready for you soon!

Thanks, we are pretty excited! The address is The Villages, Florida. It is between the thoroughbred horse country at Ocala and Disney World at Orlando. It is as far from the Gulf of Mexico as from the Daytona Raceway. You have to have a new map to find it, closest city is Leesburg. No beach, but lots of swimming pools and golf courses... Hope you can view the webshots. Go Wings!

Wow Connie and Frank! Very exciting news. Where is this place...maybe we will crash in while we are there over Easter! Both Josh and Gwen are working on recovering from ear infections/colds. If anyone is in the mood for w(h)ine there is lots to be had at our house!

I hope that the MSU basketball team won tonight, cuz their hockey team certainly did not, and we even played our second string goalie!!
- Thu Mar 18 2004 11:24PM
Connie
Thanks, but don't think we need anything, trying to get rid of junk ourselves. We are having a garage sale, just have to find out when the subdivision sale will be, probably late May, early June. There are always lots of things for kids... Have a good day!
- Thu Mar 18 2004 8:03AM
MR
Looks like the old house will be up until the weight restrictions come off. At least a month my sources say. Plenty of time for someone to take those appliances and/or beds. That sleeper couch and chair are in there too.
- Wed Mar 17 2004 9:46PM
Darrell
Thanks. I will get it Saturday.

Thanks for coming everybody. Having a great time riding that new Honda around the basement. Drew seems to really like to climb on his new sandbox. I'm going to put it in the basement until he learns to climb down though. Right now the only way down is the hard way.

Oh my gosh, Nick the sharks teeth are in the big bag of rocks for your mom's flower garden. Go see if you can find them! I may not find any teeth, but there are great orange groves. Place your order here!

Good Morning, what a nice surprise! I used the picture of you and Drew taking a nap as desktop background. It made 9 copies, quality is good. Where is Drew's mother?

Brandy
Since this looks like the classifieds I'll add one more. We have finished our basement rooms and the bedroom set that was in Grandma's house is going to be too big for our space. Is anyone interested? If you don't remember it is dark wood and there is a head/foot board, a chest of drawers, a dresser with mirror and a night stand. Just thought I'd offer it up here first! Oh yeah, Joshy says "Hiiiiiii!"
- Thu Mar 4 2004 9:37PM
Alissa
If you go into the house before this weekend, be sure to take the dirty laundry on the floor of the bathroom and bedroom...and bring it back clean! But seriously, we have not moved all of our stuff out yet, so don't mind the mess. We are getting the new house appraised tomorrow and the new dining table and end tables are coming on Saturday. Good thing, because Drew needs some new furniture to practice walking with.
- Thu Mar 4 2004 1:09PM
Connie
Dear Fancy, How you doin there Lewie? Didn't recognize your writing at first. Bet you will be glad when this is all done! Dan too! Rose too! Hugs from us!
- Thu Mar 4 2004 11:28AM
Rose
Just so you all know, the new neighbors are as bad as the old ones!! Maybe worse, who would live in a BRAND NEW house with no water, good thing ole uncle dan is there to protect lil dickie!! You know Dan, gotta take care of everyone:) Best part is they have cable, now Ash & I can get rid of him on hockey nights!!
- Thu Mar 4 2004 10:21AM
Connie
So glad we never had a house fire! Can't think of anything we need from the house, may be able to dig a few plants for Alissa. We have a few antiques from the attic that I want to give you guys-books, 78rpm records, picture frames, etc.
- Thu Mar 4 2004 9:16AM
MR
Nice to here from you Lurker. I almost thought it was the real Sandy until you gave it away:) A lot of dressers upstairs that are in good shape. Probably 3 or 4. 2 beds. Seems like someone could at least take the frames. Some coffee tables upstairs too. No power in the old house now, except the cord Danny ran from the new house to get the pump working again at 10:00 last night. I'd like to get everything out of the old house this weekend. Unless you really can't pick something up that you want let me know and I'll store it in the new garage temporarily.
- Thu Mar 4 2004 8:02AM
sandy
last chance Mick will be posting details.House scheduled to be torn down within a week. Stop by and see if there is anything left you want. No fighting first come first served. It is a shame to haul all the appliances to the dump so please if someone knows anyone that wants anything lets put it to use. by the way I am referring to the old gray house not the new yellow one but I could use a new silver fancy fridge. This is not really sandy
- Thu Mar 4 2004 6:57AM
Connie
I am downloading the Michigan Centennial Farm Program application form. The 150 year old farms receive special recognition. I can take the required pictures, you guys will have to help me with the details. We have a little time to do this, 1856-2006. OK?
- Wed Mar 3 2004 8:01AM
Darrell
Shoot, MR you should have had Nan come over with a bunch of Bailey bags. She is real good at that kind of cleanup unless no one is looking.
- Tue Mar 2 2004 2:43PM
MR
I pampered Kooter a little today too. I shoveled about 1/2 wheel barrel of doggie manure from his pen. He looks better as liver and white than liver and brown.
- Tue Mar 2 2004 11:15AM
Connie
Good Morning. Bucky is at the groomers, getting beautiful! We are cleaning closets, basement, you name it, we are getting rid of stuff-we will be ready for our subdivision garage sale at the end of May. I'll let you know the date.

Good Morning! Good to hear from you Kris. Bucky goes to the groomer tomorrow morning, stop by and see him if you get a chance. Yup, good idea to clean up the woods, Dad wanted to set a match to that junkpile, guess that wouldn't be a good idea though. Happy Leap Day!!!
- Mon Mar 1 2004 5:40AM
Kris
Yep, I am back in the southernlands for a whole week. Wish I was the one going to Florida though!!!!
- Sun Feb 29 2004 11:06PM
Sandy
What a pleasure to see the new house and the clean up begin. Spring will bring lots of clean up projects including the woods. I am asking that nothing be hauled to the woods biodegradable or not. Now is the time to return the woods to it's original condition. The grandchildren and future grandchildren will appreciate our efforts in generations to come.

Had a nice conversation with Frieda this morning, and Dorothy tonight. Checked out Skip's in Flushing tonight-the fish and chips were super! The new owner ate with us. Aunt Marge had a good time. He and Frank will play tennis in the morning, as usual. Prices weren't bad either...

We slept great - the mice didn't wake us up! (like in the other house). It was nice to be able to let Drew crawl wherever he wanted and to be able to get into the car without trucking through the mud. The closets are being finished today and we will keeping moving things in little by little until the big move this weekend.

She'll have to fill you in on the houses they toured. Seeing how the other part of the world lives, encouraged her & Adam to find careers with large salaries!!:) Dan & I are heading to see Kris tonight. Going to Gwinn on saturday for the start of the short dog sled race, NMU hockey game on Friday night. Hopefully, we will finally meet Brian. Mick & Alissa get to babysit Ash, Good Luck!!

Closets Aren't those the tiny little rooms that you cram hunting stuff in?
- Fri Feb 13 2004 5:21PM
Alissa
Valentines Day?? What is that? We don't celebrate that at our house :o). I guess I shouldn't complain because I just met with with closet guy and this has been the most exciting thus far...there are so many choices and you know me I took advantage of all of them! It is hard to believe that Mick and I survived with sharing only four feet of closet space! Anyway, I will be painting this weekend and we hope to touch up all the trim and fireplace before the carpet goes in this next Thursday. Feel free to stop by and visit...
- Fri Feb 13 2004 10:22AM

Kinda scary.:) Ash is off to Palm Spring, CA this thursday for a week. What is wrong with this picture, you guessed it, her parents are going to the U.P..:( Connie, is Bucky in the working breed?? Hard to believe.:) Have a good week.

Back from New Orleans safe and sound. Kind of hard to complain about 50 deg weather down there after returning to 20's here. We had a great time. Our friends fancy wedding at the Ritz-Carelton was something else. We had a lot of fun walking the streets of the French Quater day and night. Lots of good food and music and everything else. Glad to be home.

We are flying out of Flint early am tomorrow morning - The neighbor agreed to drop us off. Nancy, I decided not to wear that dress, but you can borrow it if you want! LOL! Grandma Sandy is watching Drew most of the weekend and Uncle Dan and Aunt Rose will be taking their turn on Sunday. I can't wait to get down there...and eat like crazy! The food is soo good, especially everything deep fried. Mick will bring you back some beads, since I won't be earning them, someone else will.....(if you know what I mean!) See everyone soon!
- Thu Feb 5 2004 9:48AM
Brandy
Gwen's computer has been down. We are up and running again! Even though I was unable to do online shopping for awhile it did not keep someone from using my credit card numbers to make a few, rather large, purchases in our name! Rose, if you need a new computer you can just use someone elses money to pay for it!
- Thu Feb 5 2004 8:42AM
Connie
Not a problem, thanks for keeping us connected Mick! Saw that beautiful house yesterday-the yellow bulldozer, blue dumpster, and red gas tank really stood out in the white snow. Daffodils, hyacinths, and tulips will be out before you know it!

I'll bring little dickie over tonight and we'll reseat the video card and find out if the monitor is bad or not.
- Tue Feb 3 2004 10:51AM
Kris
Mom, the monitor died, our computer is older than dirt, I tried to get you to turn it into gateway for a new one a long time ago. But yeah you would think that the computer nerd that lives next to you would be nice enough to help. LOL. And I really did study all weekend, I had to to get caught up on all of the stuff I slacked off on from the weeks before, you know how that goes :)
- Tue Feb 3 2004 9:53AM
MR
You got on a 'puter to post and your going to call Nort. Doesn't sound like any computer or phone emergency to me!
- Tue Feb 3 2004 9:50AM

What kind of a NERD would study instead of snowshoeing??!! I think she said that for my benefit.:) Hey Nort, I need to know if you can fix cell phones? If so, I'll call you and explain my circumstance. Our computer also died, however the neighbor in the new house doesn't seem to want to help me out!!:) You'd think he was busy or something. Have a GREAT day!!

Well we made it home safe and sound. Glad to be home, would rather have the Florida weather. We ate breakfast every morning outside. It was a GREAT trip, Dan & Ash are back to routine today. Kris & I are home doing laundry. Ash has a volleyball game tonight, not sure she will play, since she missed practice. Sounds like the house is coming along well, look out the slave driver is back!! Thanks Nan for the ride home. See you all soon.

The tile looks great. I am not sure Nancy will want to visit us after it is completed...she might be sick of seeing that house! Painting is going well and the trim should be here this week ready to stain. Harwood floor is going in soon and lights too. All we care about is getting a working toilet! We aren't the only ones doing the home improvement - Brandy and Jeremy's basement is looking great. Will be glad to have the neighbors back, Drew misses his Uncle Dan. Have a safe flight today.
- Mon Jan 5 2004 9:23AM

No snow yet, but predicted for today and the next few days. Any snow waiting for Dan & gang? Did you hear about cougars along Lake MI sand dunes? Remember those tracks we found, maybe they were cougars not bobcats.

Deer season is over. I hunting for awhile yesterday morning. Excellent weather for Jan 1. Even in the vast wastland of the thumb in winter time the wind wasn't blowing too hard. Saw pats, turkeys, squirrels, rabbits, and a few deer on the road but that was it. The only excitement was pulling a couple a drunks out of the mud in Lewie's corn stubble. Pretty funny. I guess they thought they could do some laps in their Monte Carlo but they were mistaken. Kind of weird to be driving along looking for deer and see a car way out in the middle of a corn stubble field.
- Fri Jan 2 2004 12:56PM
Darrell
Freezing rain last night in Kalkaska. Went on a couple day long XC ski trips around Parks'Place. 52 deg at home and NO crowded beaches. Deer season is offically over. Had chances at a couple dinks behind the shed. Let em grow for next year.
- Fri Jan 2 2004 12:48PM
Connie
Big snow storm expected Monday, to welcome you all home! Take lots of pictures. Anybody made any good New Year's Resolutions? Broken any? Is deer season over now?
- Fri Jan 2 2004 11:45AM
The Floridians
The sun is fun, but red hurts. Kris and Ash spent the day on Coco beach while Rose and Dan won a grand total of three dollars on a 5 hr casino cruise. All had fun, and the seafood afterward was delicious. Hope everyone is having fun the the cold wet north country :)
- Thu Jan 1 2004 8:39PM
Connie
Happy New Year! Good luck with the second tiling job Nan. We can paint on Friday, save us a couple of rollers. 31 degrees now, no snow. Going upnorth on Saturday. You guys still having fun in the sun?
